How does it work?
A Dyno machine is an essential tool for tuning fuel injected motorcycles.
The Dyno measures horsepower and torque, as well as exact air/fuel ratio on every run through the air/fuel ratio monitor. This takes the guesswork out of fuelling adjustments. The air/fuel ratio graph shows a rich/lean condition at each RPM during the dyno run. The Dyno's Load Control software provides our technicians with the ability to control vehicle RPM or speed at any throttle opening. Fuel map modifications can then be made by the technician to improve power, torque, and economy.
Features of the DynoJet 250i
- Dynojet's Load Control System uses the latest in eddy current power absorption technology
- Closed-loop control of Speed or RPM
- Vehicles tested at full or partial throttle
- Inertia Dynamometer Chassis with standard wheel base up to 84 inches
- Measures up to 750 horsepower
- Primary Wire Inductive tachometer pickup
- Secondary Inductive Pickups (spark plug clamps connect directly to spark plug wires)
The Process and the costs of Dyno Tuning and Fitting Power Commanders and similar Products to Motorcycles of all brands.
Once you change any part of the aspiration of an engine on a motorcycle i.e. fitting a custom exhaust system, an air cleaner to create better air flow, or a Performance Kit, an adjustment is required to the motorcycle ECM to enable our factory trained technicians to alter the tuning of the bike. This is done by fitting a Dyno Jet Power Commander, this enables us to alter the air/fuel mixture, and timing of the motorcycle via the ECM. If this is not done the motorcycle will run too lean (not getting enough fuel), back firing through the exhaust or popping when you are decelerating, causing unwanted wear and tear to the motorcycle engine. There should be no upgrading of the exhaust or air cleaner on any motorcycle brand without this being done, and in fact, the House of Motorcycles would not pursue this if a timing altering, fuel mixture device was not fitted.
The costs to achieve better performance smoother running and usually better fuel consumption is as follows.
Power Commander cost is approximately $850
Dyno hire cost $150
The fitting and tuning of a Power Commander is $650
Typical cost is approximately $1650
Please note sometimes more time is required to build a fuel map. For some motorcycles this will differ depending on a range of things, for example, has the engine had an upgrade kit (performance) fitted, is the engine Super Charged or maybe has a Turbocharger fitted. These can make a huge difference in building the correct map for your machine.
In saying this if we do experience this with your machine you will be contacted prior to our technician spending additional time on your motorcycle.
Here at The House of Motorcycles we have just recently upgraded our facility by installing a Brand-New Dyno Jet 250 XI Dual Drum Dyno that enables us not only to tune 2 wheeled Motorcycles but now also enables us to tune Trikes, ATV, UTVs Sports ATVs and Race UTVs the only one of its kind in Tasmania. Our upgraded internal Dyno Room is equipped with 2 new 50-inch external monitors for our customers to view and 2 new 50-inch internal monitors for the ease of viewing by our technicians.
We have made a huge capital investment to provide our customers with this state-of-the-art tuning facility. Once your motorcycle is tuned you will be provided with a printed Dyno graph showing the Horsepower & torque gains and air/fuel ratio mix achieved during the tuning process.
