The Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom is a LAMS machine. Having a choke means carbies, It’s proper old school and it’s been around for more than a decade basically unchanged because it’s a good thing.
The air-cooled OHC V-twin powerplant offers 40hp and 37.5lbs-ft of torque, accessed via a five-speed gearbox and shaft final drive, with no tachometer and pure seat-of-the-pants feedback for how you should be using the gears.
